My Piggy Bank

Would you believe that I still save on my piggy bank? My father gave it to me when I was six years old. He said that it is good to invest in a bank even if you're still young. As far as I can remember he gave it to me as a birthday present. At first, I did not appreciate it because it would mean that I would have less money to buy my favorite chocolate. One more thing, I have less money for playing online games. And that really sucks! There were times that I really wanted to break it so that I can have lots of money. But my mom always reminded me that I should spend that money only if I badly need them.

However, as I grew up I was able to appreciate the value of that piggy bank. I bought a lot of things from the money that I saved from that piggy bank. I was able to buy my first underwear, and also a gift for my parents on their anniversary, and a card for my childhood sweetheart. Can you imagine what will I do if I did not save on that? Probably, I ended up asking money from my parents to buy a gift for them also. See how stupid it would have been?! But it never happened, thanks to my piggy bank. I still have it, but it's not intact anymore. There's a small break on one side. Anyway, I have taped it so I don't have to worry about it. How about you? Do you have a piggy bank at home?

Your father is right. Kids should learn to save money at an early age. That's one of the thing that I have told my children.
